My latest lie
Today I received two of my folktale books. I love how well loved they are. I am committing to not buying anymore until I finish at least one.
I love so many things frfr
To frame this next season, I'd like to center with this poem by Toni Morrison. It goes:
"And I am all of the things I have ever loved.
Scuppernong wine, cool baptisms in silent water, dream books and number playing.
I am the sound of my own voice singing "Sangaree." I am ring-shouts and blues, ragtime and gospels. I am mojo, voodoo, and gold earrings.
I am not complete here. I am so much more."
My version:
"And I am all of the things I have ever loved.
Cabernet sauvignon, solo museum trips in cold mornings, tarot cards and scriptures.
I am the sound of my own voice singing Alice Walker.
I am rap and jazz, Meg the Stallion and Sun Ra. I am rituals, magical realism, and nameplate necklaces.
I am not complete here. I am so much more."
