Fish is the plural of fish. Except when you are describing multiple breeds of fish- then it is fishes. To dream of fishes is to be intuitive. It is to read symbols like a book and understand an unwritten language. To dream of fishes is not than seeing a human baby coming. It is a gift passed through generations of the black family. It is suspicion, opportunity, a game of connect the dots.

I dream of fishes is Igbo Landing, Anansi, prayer closets, the somebody that knew somebody. It is a major for some and a memory for others. It's the way we walked around the church seven times for prosperity. It's the way I can only trace back my family so far. It's the way I've been able to connect with folks on this lost history of mine- folktales.

Take a shot every time I say I'm excited

I'm excited. I think we'll all be uncovering secrets and stories together. Family storytelling has been a theme for me.

Dreaming of fishes is my brain nagging me to call my grandmother only to find out she's been diagnosed with cancer.

It is so many things- just as I am so many things and my mother is so many things and her mother is so many things and her mother is so many things and black people are so many things.

It is the way I like my tea too sweet like over sugared Kool aid from childhood.

"Get to" is a part of my gratitude practice

I am so excited. I get to center black art for black people. Not black art for white people or black art for the consumption of voyuers.

This is not black-ish.
